Creating one of the first iPad apps for designers

When the iPad was first introduced, it inspired Roger to create an app that would feed creative inspiration. Teaming up with a developer friend, he shipped DesignScene, a daily inspiration app for designers.

At its core, the app was a visual news reader. It pulled in feeds from various design blogs—with permission—and displayed images in a grid of six portals that users could swipe through. Users could also add their favorite discovered images into collections for reference later.

DesignScene was named “App of the Week” by Apple in the App Store. And it was very well-received with coverage in the press from GizmodoMacStoriesShawn Blanc, and MAKE: Craft.
